It was our great pleasure to meet Pearl on a canal boat trip in 2017 and to have remained in touch with her over these years. She was a truly remarkable woman — kind, intelligent, witty and generous, and knowing her has enriched our lives beyond measure. We send our kindest thoughts and deepest sympathy to her family, of whom she spoke and wrote so lovingly.
